I hate the term “enshittification” because it sounds so juvenile for what is a serious concept.
The Web is better than BBSs were, but BBSs had a charm that the web is missing. Probably because the web allowed people to specialize, so there was no need for every other computer within local telephone range to have the same set of ASCII games running. Because things were easier to find on the web, specialization occurred and generalization ended. Or something.
I should look into BBSs again. Wikipedia claims there’s about 1000 still running, and quite a few of them have moved onto the web with Telnet or SSH interfaces.
I am going to find out how and why a flight at DFW can change gates and terminals 6 times in as many minutes. It obviously must be done by some algorithm because only the most anxious human would change gates for a flight that fast, and I don’t think they let people that anxious direct airplanes. But I don’t really know.
Blogging on my phone using the current interface (which is well hidden) is nigh impossible because I cannot scroll up in the text box. Or down in the text box. All I can do is issue a stream of thoughts and not look back. Ehh, that’s kind of my natural writing style anyway.
The more I see people on Reddit write about how great Docker is, the more I wonder how many people don’t really understand what’s going on with whatever it is they are Dockerizing.
I should actually use Docker for something real. Except I have nothing real that would actually benefit from using it, to justify the effort of Dockerizing it. Even if that effort is small.
I have more thoughts on Docker, but it’s finally time to board the plane.
